flash frozen into inactivity
by what is displayed in front of your eyes,
you sit there in front of the t.v. screen
paralyzed, believing their hype and lies,

there's ugliness and constant drone of war,
that is all you seem to hear on the news,
that is more reality than i want,
no one seems interested in my views,

our children raised by electronic box,
they do not know how to play anymore,
whatever happened to the good old days?
to reading books, to getting out of doors?

it is "gimme this!"   it is "gimme that!,"
we're raising a greedy generation,
money talks...and having no money walks,
i fear for the future of our nation,

cartoons?  they are getting more violent,
reality shows?  i don't live like that, 
talk shows?  there's nothing worth talking about,
soaps?  all of the characters are dingbats,

please do yourself a favor.  shut.  it.  off,
read a book or write poetry instead,
make family time a priority,
before we become like them--brain dead!!
