Yee-hawwww!!!!! :-)

Poem Artwork

The precipitous skies issued a challenge,
One I found very difficult to ignore.
'There's one way to overcome your fear,' they said,
'You must confront it, to prove you are hard-core.'

'What is it you would have me to do?' I asked,
'Only something you have never considered.'
Now what kind of an answer is that? I thought,
What did they want me to do, ride a twister?

'That is exactly what you must do,' they said,
'You must confront the one thing you fear the most.'
A sudden roaring wind came from the south-west,
Picked me up like I weighed no more than a ghost!

It threw me high into the turbulent skies,
It slammed me down to Earth for a little fun.
It threw me into lightning and back again.
I was so dizzy, I nearly came undone.

I found a way to hold on, and rode the wind.
It bucked and whirled and did its best to toss me.
It was worse than riding a bucking bronco,
But I hung on, 'cause I'm from Texas, you see.

It was the longest eight seconds of my life,
I stuck to the back of that twister like glue.
It tried every way to get me off its back,
Beat me up pretty bad, left me black and blue.

But I won against that puny little storm,
I conquered my fear of storms once and for all.
Now, just for fun, I ride twisters 'cross the plains,
Why don't y'all come join me?  I'm having a ball!

Karla,
Glad to see you have conquered
your fear of the twister. Mine happened
April 25th when we had that twister in
Roanoke. I am no longer afraid! Just turns my stomach
a little bit. GOOD FOR YOU! YEA Karla!
Love ya!,
Becca
