Last year, one day we wore red, white, and blue...
This year, we're wearing it the whole year through.
Last year, we were a Nation divided...
This year, we are all standing united.
Last year, the flag didn't wave quite so high...
This year, they're all over--look at them fly!!!!
Last year, we watched fireworks flame and flare...
This year, America's saying her prayers.
Last year, celebrities were our heroes...
This year, it's those that died at Ground Zero.
Last year, Twin Towers stood in the City...
This year, they're gone...and it's sure a pity.
Last year, it seemed nothing could horrify...
This year, we remember those lost and cry.
Last year, scandals were all over the news...
This year it's terror that has us confused.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
How different things seem to be this year...
We weren't living under clouds of fear.
Freedom is the reason we celebrate...
This year it carries a far greater weight.
This year, as we reflect and remember...
Don't forget what happened last September.
