Gotta laugh. :)

January Thirteenth:  ice storm
warnings; flash flood warnings;
tornado warnings:  a little bit
of weather for everybody's
fancy.  The sky, leaden in its
appearance; naked branches
scrape any hope for sunshine
from clouds reluctant to part
with it.  It looks as brittle as it
feels-----------the promised ice
storm has arrived; the only thing
to do is curl up under the covers
and wait, wait, wait for Spring:
if I know Texas, that will probably
be in tomorrow's forecast!

(c) 2007, Karla Dorman.  (11/13)

So what's wrong with ice cream in a storm? I had a banana split during that time & you're right on key where the storms are still coming but we're safe! Well penned!

Spring is a wonderful thing, like your poem. So incredible imagery here Karla and a vivid mood.

Sounds way too freakin' freezin'...
I once was going cross-country in a Luv pickup truck with a shell over top. Got to Texas, stayed overnight in a rest area, in the back. When I got up in the morning, I was iced in! I couldn't get out! Finally I managed to get one little window opened on the side, we're talking LITTLE! Somehow, I squeezed through that sucker and got out!(before baby body)
Well, That's Texas, in a nutshell! I mean a Luv-shell! HA!
Love and Peace~

I hate ice storms. I don't miss them one bit. Even though they are beautiful when they first coat the trees etc. Hope you're right and it passes quickly.

So, you're one of those in disguise, eh? A hibernating bear! All the same, keep warm and safe, and remember, this too will pass...then it will be spring...followed by perhaps a hot, hot, hot summer...then a longing for winter! It's a crazy cycle, circle, whatever; like a dog that keeps chasing its tail! :)

God Bless
Love
Lena

As always Karla, written with your special flavor. I thought Indiana was the only state, if you didn't like the weather, just wait a minute.

I hear you, Karla and Karen! We have the ice/sleet storm predicted for tomorrow through Monday up here in New England -- just returned from the grocery to stock up on sandwich fixins in case we lose power (again). This is a wonderful write, Karla -- love the lines, "naked branches scrape any hope for sunshine from clouds reluctant to part with it ..." That's wonderful!
Love,
CJ

Karla, what an intriguing line -- "naked branches scrape any hope for sunshine from clouds reluctant to part with it."
You surely have a way with words.
Ice is a terrible wonderful thing with its danger and beauty! Don't you love icicles hanging down? and ice-encrusted trees?
January's half over; spring can't be too far away, even in PA.
Keep warm in those covers.
Love ya,
Connie

At least we have some good readin' material to keep us busy, plus we can write poetry or stories to our heart's content! We also can watch tv, and keep each other company; there's nobody I'd rather spend time with during this ice storm than with you! :) Very well done write; crazy weather we are having, hunh??

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin sister, Karen Lynn. :D

At least we don't have to worry about getting out in it; that'd be dumb! Don't need neither one of us bustin' our arses (or anything else, especially me! ICK! LOL).

I hear you, Karla. We were in the 70s, here in Galveston County, TX, yesterday. It is cloudy and breezy now and I know what is coming, tomorrow. For tomorrow's Houston Marathon, it will be in the 50s with a threat of rain. Monday's high will be in the low 40s and we could have sleet Monday night through Wednesday with lows in the 20s. Ah yes, our weather in Texas --- wait five minutes and it'll change!

Cute write.

Karla,

I was once stationed in Oklahoma so I know how finicky the weather can be and yes you're more than likely right. Rest and stay warm my friend. Blessings to You, Paul.
