An afternoon, drunk
on the smell of gas
and oil; sneezing grass
clippings out of the
nose; wiping sweat out
of the eyes; slapping
biting bugs; this, the
first date of many
with the lawn mower:
we have all summer
to get acquainted.
Hopefully, we won't
have killed each other
by the time Fall comes.

"Pain in the Grass"
I like the whimpsy in this poem.
Although some can be allergic to grass we are still thankful for it though. Additionally, wonderful title and befitting all the way around~smile.

What a treat ! Here in Ohio, where the snow has caused school delays, car wrecks and injuries ... I thank you for this green image that will dance in my head for the rest of the evening. For now the the gas powered beast to contend with is the snowblower.

Holly hit the nail on the head. Yes, it is a pain because I go through it every year when the grass grows. But it sure is wonderful exercise and keeps the muscles in shape.
