Letting the luxuries like cable go; can't afford. Rabbit ears work, just not as well. Will there be anything left after? Doubt. And then celebrities whine 'bout life not being f a i r. Try living on what we do. Life only isn't fair, it's shitty for the poor. Two twenty five does not last long, believe you me. We have no choice but to live hand to mouth each month, existing on pork and beans, pasta, because it fills you up and is cheap, praying you don't get sick: compared to others, though, we're rich: we have a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. What more do we need? Just wish life wasn't so ... e x p e n s i v e.
A write that many can relate too, when the coal business here in Kentucky was poor, we too lived on pinto (soup) beans, potatoes, and lots of tuna, found out that tuna makes wonderful patties fried, mix a little meal and flour, onions and seasonings, great eating with beans and cornbread. It's hard, but I remember thinking that I had it pretty easy compared to many...still makes you want to tell the celebrity's to take a hike! Most don't have a clue! A great rant...it's okay to let off a little steam, we all do occasionally...

It gets harder and harder to live as the prices keep going up!.. I've been there ,, done that too. In Fla we have a program called SHARE.. It helps people get food free each month , in exchange for just a few hours of a persons time.. We also have food banks , commmunity health, that offer assistance. Hang in there!....M
Karla, you've just characterized the situation of so many poor people and it is really sad. But you are right to be thankful for what you do have. A roof over your head is the greatest material asset you have. God bless and may He keep you safe, warm, healthy, and peaceful.
I hear ya! Celebs really yank my chain sometimes, don't even get me started on Paris Hilton. Pasta and Beans is how we had to feed our 5 children years ago. Pot pies 4 for a dollar, puffed wheat, 80 cents a bag, rice and hot dogs. Been there and still am at times. But I am rich. God has always, ALWAYS made something good come around the corner. Always. Loved the piece!

You have RE-opened my eyes, dear lady...I had at one time lived like that but did have a nice place to live, plenty of warmth etc, but no love...Now I have both love and a pretty fair lifestyle and you know what? I kinda miss my old lifestyle to a degree...just don't tell, Rene & Rufuz...I wish you well dear friends...Ed

sounds familiar. we lived that way most of our married life with only 1 child. can you imagine 6 or 7 of them (little mouths to feed). mom and dad worked hard to provide us with every need as they had 5 of us. i completely UNDERSTAND every line of this good piece of writing. cheer up and try increasing your communication with the Maker, Provider, Forgiver, Friend, etc. What can we lose when we do this? a hug

Always so honest and frank....
Many knock England for the saftey net of the welfare state. but everyone can have at least five fruits and veg aday aswell as being able to live a respectful life style. Even after Blairs attempted demolision act. Grat orator and world stage statesman, but no so good for his own country....
It is not right that our society can fund billions each year on destruction but so little to help those in serious need. My thoughts and feelings are with you Karla
Hi Karla, I feel you on this. Just wait until you are older like me and seem to become a cash cow for doctors and drug companies. They test us so much somtimes I think they'll make something up to keep us coming back. We are still rich I know that compared to many others in the world and I'm grateful just wish it was a little easier. I have to get a bank loan to buy gas for my car. PLB&G for caring and sharing. Karla, life can get aggravating when you step one step forward and fall back six. It's not right how so many people in our country have to live on such minimal wages and never have enough to make it to the next month. People can't live on a minimum wage...there's no way. Life can give us cramps!

No, life isn't easy when one is poor; that is why I get so tired of hearing about all these celebs bragging that they can't live on a million plus dollars; I'd love to see them live on what we do for a YEAR!! (Less than 2,000 a year!) That'd make them think about what's more important in life! Rant on, baby girl, I hear ya!
