Karen and I will be forty eight tomorrow. :)

... Last day.  Can't return
to the days of youth
except in dream and
memory.  Siiggghhhh.  A
year older.  Don't tell
me:  body shouts it
from white topped roof, GEE
yer ... a n c i e n t.  Thanks loads.
Rusted hinges that
once were joints pop with
age.  Don't remind -- I
know.  Birthdays used to
be fun; now that I've
matured (like fine wine?),
sometimes want to turn
back the clock to when
things were ... what's the word ...
simpler.  Ain't gonna
happen 'less plastic
surgeon does it.  Nah.
Original parts
still work -- maybe not
as well, but they're mine.
Thank God.  I wasn't
expected to live.
Look where I am now,
thanks to His Grace.  The
warranty hasn't
expired, 'least not
yet.  Forty eight years!
Okay, tomorrow --
don't rush things, okay?
STILL forty seven.
Today, anyway ......

(c) 2007, Karla Dorman (6/25)

WISH I was forty-eight! :) Could remember that far back! :)
Actually, I am lying. To me, every age has its joys. . .only they are greater as you go along. I am such a child, age doesn't have much effect. Okaaaaaaaay, my bones creak a bit. Got bags under the bags under my eyes. But Child, the best of us is i n s i d e. 's'TRUE !!! With your spirit, your spunk, your smarts, your talent, your creativity, your love for nature, your wit. . .don't tell ME an 8 instead of a 7
matters one whit. Younger'n SPRING, my friend. As refreshing!!!!

You are right my dear friend...but I agree with Rebecca we are as old as we feel...even though my knees may crack and pop at times when I kneel, and it's not as easy to get up from a kneeling position and I may have a few more gray hairs...I am still the same at heart as I am sure you are too my friend...your write touched home with all of us...I too have an upcoming birthday...I'll tell you my age then, but I'm not far behind you...Just in case I don't get to tell you tomorrow....HAPPY BIRTHDAY! God bless, my dear friend....
Blessings,
Joyce B.

Sometimes I think God makes us believe we aren't "supposed" to live just to make the other's feel the miracles that abound when we do. You ARE loved.

Happy birth day to You and your lovely twin sister Karen. Don't worry about the age factor. You are still young, sharp, smart and strong. You are not still at old age. You are at maturity age: in all aspects.
Afterall, age is a just number. We can manipulate the number 48 as 4 and 8. The dividend is 2 (8/4). The difference is 4 (8-4). The sum is 12 (8+4). The product is 32 (8x4). And if you reverse the digit order it becomes 84.

Keep enjoying life. Happy birthday to youuuuuuuuu.

Time has a habit of rushing to meet us when we are past forty...and we can do nothing to stop it only slow it down by enjoying each minute we survive.

I surely can identify with these feelings. I am a bit older than you but people keep telling me that I never grew up and I don't "feel" older than last year. However, when I think about it, such as your poem makes me think; I'd rather not think about it. Thank you, Karla. Amour et paix. Ton ami de la C-B, Canada,

first let me say, Happy Birthday to the two of you..
This wonderful little poem of your was both humorous and frank about the subject of getting older.
Remember this though....age is simply a matter of maind...if you don't mind, it don't matter.
You can still do all those things at forty eight you did at twenty eight...maybe not as often and perhaps a bit slower...but going slower is often times a good thing...heheheheheh.

Wonderful ode to the joys of turning older; God blessed me with you, and I want to wish you the happiest birthday ever!! Happy birthday, dear twin! I love you with all my heart and soul!

I am grateful that God let us live this long; it could have very easily gone the other way; glad it didn't! Every day we wake up breathing is a good day!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :D

Very well written; hope your day is happy; you deserve to celebrate! :) Have fun, you young whippersnapper! :) Celebrate!!
