... thoughts of warmth on the mind ...

Poem Artwork

Winter outside; in
heavy mist wrapped like
a shawl around the
apartment; in the
wind lifting the few
leaves left off of the
trees; in the coldness
of the temp'ratures
tapping at the door -
oops, sorry, that was
for the neighbor.  Where
was I ... wow, it's cold
out there.  Indoors, where
I am, still summer:
sunlight, faked with lamps;
cruise video on
the VCR ... thoughts
of warmth on the mind ...
even if I must
make my own weather!  :)

"heavy mist wrapped like a shawl"; "temp'ratures tapping at the door"; "summer faked with lamps"; "cruise video" --great lines, Karla! See, (I'm sharing a trade secret here, so sshhhhh) these are the kinds of lines I like to grab and stick in a place I call "Lines from a poem unwritten", and then, when I need one of the lines, I "borrow" from my unwritten poem and plug it in where it belongs-- kind of like a toy store, you know-- where some toys wait and wait for the right little girl or boy to come along and purchase it. There's a hole on the shelf for a while, but gradually it gets filled up by more poetic merchandise. Also, you never know when you'll have a drout season, so canning and shelving is not a bad idea... You show your lines off well in this wonderful poem-- a really, super good write. --Charlie

I like the cold. I'm rather bundled up in layers than sweating my buns off. Nice thought however and that picture... ahhhhhhhhhh I think I might have to have a Mai Tai tonight ;-)

... It's all in the anticipation, Karla! We most certainly DO create our own weather, that is for sure. My little raincloud travels with me if I'm in a grump with the sun for not shining... and as for the neighbour, she usually leaves me in a complete fog...!! Sounds like a night in on the bottle is called for... the Max Factor Tan! (AND the tequila, if you're really partying...) K xx

My sister lives in Maine. When I talked to her yesterday I tried not mention it had been 78 here, but she asked. Maine ain't the funnest place to be in the winter.

Karla...you can vacation all year with these kind of temps. What a wonderful solution you've cooked up for yourself!

Oh, YUCK! Not your poem, but Mr. Ed below. I'd rather have snow rather than ice; much easier to navigate on snow than ice! Your poem brings warm tropical breezes and margaritas to mind. LOL Very well penned; brava! (I'd rather have the snow...)

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin sis, Karen Lynn. :D

A note to Mr. Ed: PLEASE Be careful; don't hurt yourself!

Thoughts of Ice on My Mind! We've been hit with an icy, icy rain. I'd much rather have snow.
