Daddy called me from North Central Ohio. His words: "Ohio is closed." They have a foot and a half of snow, and it was still coming down. He said this storm rivaled the Blizzard of 1978.
It's for all you winter weary folk that I write this poem. S m i l e. Spring will be here. Eventually. LOL

Sounds like a horror movie,
!! The Winter That Wouldn't Die !!
And it won't: keeps coming back
like the zombies from "Night of
The Living Dead." If this keeps
up, they'll have company: face
frozen in a rictus of
'Enough!' Chills play "Tingler" on
the spine; "Nightmare(s) on Elm Street"
(and ev'ry other wanting
a break); look - "The Hills Have Eyes"
(Jack's back: redrum REDRUM) - "I
Know What Y O U Did Last Summer,"
they mutter with breath smelling
like ... used mukluks. You wished for
warmth; you'll get cold and plenty
of it. At least there are no
spiders or sharks to worry
about ... you know, could be worse ...
Could be summer ... "House of Wax." :)
Karla just look at these phrases: "face frozen in a rictus of 'Enough!'" and "breath smelling like ... used mukluks." You are at times so absolutely genius. Those are way good lines. --Charlie
Great write have heard about the weather there and also in KY. will call a few peeps to see how they are doing. Last I heard Thurs/Fri the snow was falling. Pretty much they felt snowed in but we will see.

Awww don't be dishartened, it isn't even officially Spring yet! We got hit hardest at this time last year, several big snow storms, shoveling and salting every day but this year has been mild with storms passing through for a day or so then the warm sun melting it all away. I am not sorry that I don't live in Ohio anymore, though. Columbus really took a beating...but the snow will stop and
Spring will come when she is ready. In the meantime, make a cup of cocoa, put on a warm fuzzy sweater and relax, that is why we have Winter.

Yea, I was in college in that winter of '78 and even in Florida we froze out but that Blizzard was awesome.
I like this stacatto, newsreel style of poetry - very contemporary way to convey a picture.. and speaking of winter:
This year it hasn't been any one storm in New England where my sister lives but they have had over 120 inches of snow total for the season! That's 10 feet and just keeps snowing every few days!
You are one crazy lady & your sister is number 2...LOL! Boy I wish I had gone out to visit my friends in Ohio this weekend, but alas the money wasn't there, but the Jeep and Rufuz would have loved the snow...instead all we get is rain and wind, AGAIN! Stop sending the rain from down your way north as all this weather is all your fault...Ed
Creepy write with a devastating sense of humor! Loved this; yes, I remember the "Blizzard of '78" really well: The White Hurricane. Ah, yes. Thunder, lightning, SNOW, hurricane-force winds, you shoveling the snow--and shoveling and shoveling!! LOL Truly an unforgettable storm! This poem with its horror movie references will live on in the memories of those sick of winter! Very well done; brava!
