Poem Artwork

Sometimes, they'll come when
called, clamoring, wanting their
voices to be heard.  In their haste,
they push and shove each other
from the pen, jostling, shouting ---
wanting to be the first one on
the page.  I have to remind them
that each of them is important;
each will have their say.  And at
other times, they get stubborn,
refusing to listen to their Muse:
they've developed selective
hearing all of a sudden.  They'd
much rather stay in their room.

GO TO YOUR ROOM NOW!! AND DON'T SLAM THE DOOR!! They stomp off, mumbling something you just can't quite get as they go... Those mumbled words lie dormant until days/weeks/months/years have passed, and if transplanted correctly in the right memory, they grow like hair from the tops of other children's heads... -Charlie

I guess one thing we learn about raising children is to be
patient.

Karla, I guess one of the things we learn in raising children is
patience. And the happy surprises. You're right on this fine poem.
- Gene.
