those that do not stand in defense at home of the freedoms all the brave soldiers fought and died for since our nation's inception, defame the brave ones that gave them the right to do so -- anyone who stands mute as our freedoms are being stripped one by one, does not deserve the right to be called an American -- for America's soldiers are brave men and women who have fought and sacrificed for more than three centuries to gain and protect freedom -- today, all should honor without hesitation each and every brave soldier past and present -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael

I never forget my teenage friend Jack, a green marine,
who forgot to duck and was killed by friendly fire on
Okinawa, while I rolled on the sea a few miles offshore,
unknowing and unable to do a damn thing about it. When
will we stop sending children to fight our battles? -gene.

Superbly written, Karla... But I would also say that even those who didn't die in service to our country have reason to be remembered at least once a year...for giving us so many other things in our lives.

Anger and frustrations justified, Karla; I don't blame yew one bit for being hacked off! What ever happened to hnoring those who gave their all, continue TO do so (and NOT just the Iraqi/Afghanistan veterans, but ALL veterans of ALL wars)???? Powerful emotions here; very well penned!
