... let us not forget ....

Poem Artwork

Appreciation:
a feeling of gratitude;
of indebtedness.

My heart overflows
with love for those who serve(d) in
wartime and in peace:

as we celebrate
our Nation's Independence,
let us not forget

those who are fighting,
those who returned home (thank God)
and those who didn't -

primarily them.
This friendly reminder paid
by their sacrifice.

Yes, Karla, this is the real spirit of July 4th. The people who sacrifice/d to give us our independance. On the 5th, a local town had their fireworks. I was very upset by the news of some moron shooting a gun into the crowd. What is this world coming to? Nice work on this poem:)

I wish that we could return to the patriotism that existed in the 40's and early 50's. Your poems about the service and about the 4th always bring me back to those days...not that I lived through them personally, but...

AMEN, Karla; to forget would be catastrophic! Powerful reminder; thank you! And thank YOU for serving; I am indeed grateful to remember our heroes, those fallen and those who were lucky enough to come home. Thank God you were one that returned home! :)
