Back to normal: to forgetfulness,
to the daily grind of living. Bank,
gas station, drop kids off here/
there/everywhere; work, school,
store; home ... HOME. Where our
soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines
would like to be, to do the daily
things most of us take for granted:
like breathing. Going to buy
groceries, real food!, your wife and
son by your side, love shining in
their eyes and hanging off your
arms (they haven't let go since you
got back), like the Infantryman I
met last night. That is where they
would like to be, but duty calls
them elsewhere. Why I remember:
Death doesn't take a holiday.
Every day should be Veteran's/
Memorial Day, until they all come
Home... So often the word, "home", brings a soft glow in the lower region of one's stomach, or is it one's heart. How taken for granted when there, when home, how missed when not. And if one is in a place where death looms around every corner, then home is the word for a place of safety.

and when they get here, our Gov should give them the medical benefits they so deserve. It's such a sad problem in this country. They give us their all including their health and in some cases their lives and we can't even take care of them. That's really a bad thing.
Again I'm going to tell you how proud I am of you, and hope and pray we can keep the ball rolling so that nobody can forget about our Veterans and Soldiers the rest of the year.
It was such a pleasure to meet that Army Infantryman, his wife, and son. And it is a pleasure that you remember them, our soldiers and Veterans, every day of the year, not just when convenient. We all should do the same. :) God bless you, Karla, and thank YOU for YOUR time in the service and for your continuing service to remember ALL.
