... Those who died would like to be where you are, safe. Home. ....

Poem Artwork

Yesterday was beer, picnics,
being on the lake, fun with family
and friends, a long holiday weekend.

Have a good time?  A little
red this morning?  Feeling a bit
hungover?  Those who died would

like to be where you are,
safe.  Home.  Remember the
price for your freedoms:  their blood.

Soldiers, sailors, airmen and
Marines don't stop dying because
some would forget sacrifices, made,

so you could celebrate.  Hope
you took a little time out of your
day to thank them for what you have.

The soldiers will still dying, the only hope is that they do it for a good reason. Death is a hell of a high price to pay for worthless political blink-blink.

Well said Karla and sadly so many seem to forget what the day is for, others are never taught...

Be always safe,
Karen

So sad many people have forgotten our nations heroes, many, of whom, gave their lives for our freedom ... no, they'd rather celebrate with picnics, sales, or getting together with family and friends and getting into trouble ... pathetic! It's time we get back to the REAL reason why we celebrate a holiday like Memorial Day: remembering our fallen and those who came home, but have since gone home (like our daddy and his four brothers, as well as our mom's brother), NOT anticipating the big sales or acting stupid! Sorry, but you've touched a nerve with this one! Powerful, heartbreaking write; well penned, Karla!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :(

So very true Karla, Only for them there would be nothing to celebrate, but so sad when you think of what they gave for this day, their lives.

Newfie hugs are on the way, Rose
