The night exploded, again, again!
in bombs of light and sound. I
breathed in the smoke but didn't
smell death --- only wonderment.
They knocked on the walls of my
soul, synchronized my heart to
their time and shook the ground
under my back, these pyrotechnic
blooms that filled my eyes ablaze
with color and beauty, and a little
sadness, too --- it's too bad they
won't last as long as memories ...
Why are celebratory moments always in brevity's column while remorse, pain and suffering seem to linger into infinity? You capture the sensual and the emotion with great imagery Karla. May peace and love be always with you my dear friend. Jon Michael
Are they still going on out there in Texas? We only get one night, the 4th. Then it's back to the sharp crack of an AK. Par for the course out here. Enjoyed.
THE IMAGERY IN THIS WORK IS GREAT AND THEY DO INDEED REMIND ONE OF BEAUTIFUL 'BLOOMS' THAT FILL THE NIGHT SKY. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS, LOVE, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
Yes, Karla, I agree: too bad these pyrotechnic blooms can't last but a short time ... but they grow forever in our hearts and minds. An excellent write, and that piccy is too cool! Very well penned and photographed; brava, Karla!

I like your poem because it reminds me of when I was a child and thought Fourth of July Fireworks were the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. (After all, I was just a little farm girl who had never seen much of anything except nature and green plants growing.) Beautiful poem, Karla.
