Poem Artwork

I always wanted to stay up, but
Mom and Dad wouldn't let me.
Go to bed, they'd say.  I'd whine,
But Moooom ... Don't 'Mom' me,
she'd say, Now.  I'd mutter
myself up the stairs, twin sister

my shadow.  We'd brush our
teeth, change into our gowns,
crawl in the bed, and then the
fun would start.  One of us
(usually me) would say
something or do something

that would send the both of
us off the side of the bed in
giggleFITS  Karla!  Karen!  Go.
To.  Bed!  I don't want to tell
you again.  Yes, Ma'am.  Would
be quiet for a bit, and then,

*snert* *snorrrt*  WAH-HA HAA!
There we'd go.  thumpTHUMP
T H U M P!!!  UP the stairs Mom
would stomp, FLING open the
door, and her two angels were
sound asleep *snore*.  She'd

go back down.  Whisper:  You
awake?  Yeah.  *snerrrrt*
Shhhhhhhhh gigglegiggleHA
--- GO.  TO.  SLEEP.  NOW!!!!!!
Right outside the door.  How
did she --- Yes, Ma'am.  (Like we

could sleep.)  I know what, let's
read under the covers, Mom will
never know.  She always knew.
Our security blanket, flashlight
were confiscated, along with
the book:  GO.  TO.  SLEEP!!!!!

Funny Funny! I came from a family of night owls. That said, just try to get a wink of sleep a bit after sunrise. Bugle call! Patrick

I'm sitting here with a smile on my face. My sister, who is three years younger than I am, shared a bedroom and many similar moments!

Wonderful Karla! It makes me realise that all mothers all over the world have got that sixth sense about what their kids are up to, can't get away with anything. LOL.
Thank you for sharing your memories

Memory lane is such a sweet walk,
David

You demonstrate real talent weaving snippets of anecdotal, sibling hilarity into the fabric of prose. Very well done. And funny too. I did the same stuff with my little sis. Take care.

LOL This is funny, Karla; I LOVE it! Cherished memories to treasure forever, even when mom was not in her best frame of mind, mood wise ... she had a good habit of getting annoyed at us ... or at the very least, very angry! LOL God rest her soul! LOL Well done; brava!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin (the instigator!), Karen Lynn. :D *Hee*
