karen and i are at the library
i look at the sky, it's lookin eerie

karen
yeah
i don't like the looks of that sky
o, yuck--looks like it's going to storm
yeah, think it's gonna come up a humdinger of a cloud
whattaya say we head on home
okay--fine with me

so karen and i start on our way home
it's getting darker than a catacomb

karen
yeah
leeeet's just stop here at the corral
but i don't wanna wait here
the storm's gonna get us before we get home
but i don't wanna
let's get a coke, wait a little bit, see what the storm's gonna do

and the clouds grow teeth, the storm is alive
if we go out there, we might not survive

karla
yeah
does that look like a tornado funnel
*don't say that* nooooo, just low hangin clouds
but why are they swirlin
*PLEEEEEASE don't say that* they're just low hangin clouds, i said
it's beginnin to rain
boy is it ever wiiiiindy!

the rain is falling in a great white sheet
*crud* on the roof, hail's beginnin to beat

karla
yeah
is that hail
yep doesn't sound too...dang, it's really comin down
*blink* o, dang, WHY'S THE POWER OUT
*i don't like this idon'tlikethis i don't like this*
man, it's rainin and hailin so hard you can't even see
*i just hope it don't bust out the windows*

the white plague is bouncin over our heads
*if that hail busts through, we're gonna be dead*

karen
yeah
aren't you glad we didn't try to walk home
you said it--when do you think the power will come on
when it does...look, it's beginnin to ease up
how big do you think that hail is
o, i don't know...'bout golf ball, maybe a little smaller

the rain eases up, we all go outside
on a piece of hail, i fall, bust my pride *ow*

karla
yeah
are you alright *gasp gasp gasping with laughter*
yeah didn't help my nerve, though *ow*
lookit all the hail...my word, it's coverin the ground!
let's grab some, see how big it is
yep, 'bout quarter, golf ball sized
geez that's cold...is that when you say, "o, hail!!!!?"

--------------------------------------------------------------
had vicious thunderstorms roll through
parts of the dallas fort worth metro-
plex last evening, around sunset; the
storms packed wind, rain, frequent, in-
tense lightning, and hail, anywhere
from nickle to softball sized.

thank God, all we had here was quarter
to golfball sized hail. it was enough
to damage some cars and it beat the
bejeebers out of the trees...leaves and
limbs are lying everywhere you look.

we lost power for around a half hour at
the restaurant we were at, and it was
out for over two hours at our apartment.

no injuries *not even to my busted
pride LOL*, thank God it wasn't worse!

We had a very bad storm here Sunday night and are about to get hammered again. I counted lightning strikes Sunday and in one minute, we had forty-five strikes!!! Plus, 70 mph winds... more than we got from the hurricane, earlier this year.
Great write.
Jill :)

man, that sky WAS uuuuuuuugggggglllly....*NASTY!*

thought for sure we were gonna' get a tornado or get killed by hail or high wind; man, i never seen it storm THAT bad...SCARED ms stupid, especially when it started to hail and then the power at the golden corral went out..YIKES! and then there's merlafreak with the flashlight and surprised customers and workers, wonderin' what on EARTH was going on or what was gonna' happen!~ glad you were delivered of your spirit of fear, but i sure was scared! YIPE!! :0 terrific write that brilliantly captures the drama of the height of the storm and the aftermath. :) (((HUGS))) and much love, your twink, karen lynn.
