TEN li'l gators, livin' in da bayou,
Dey wanna play some gator games wit' you,
Gnawin' an' chawin', passin' a goo' time,
One git inna way...now dere's only NINE,
NINE li'l gators, Maman's tail dere chew toy,
Ain't dey cute...fo' girl 'gators an' fo' boys,
She say, "Fin' somet'in' else to masticate!!!"
One git inna way...now dey's only EIGHT,
EIGHT li'l gators, with all dere teef and claws,
Dey's always hongry, gnawin' wit' dere jaws,
Devon! Look out! Look out!! Poor, poor Devon,
He git inna way...now dey's jes' SEVEN,
SEVEN li'l 'gator, t'ree boy an' fo' girl,
Dey et some't'ing dat make dere tummy twirl,
Dey don' feel good, boy! dem 'gators are SICK!
One done fall out...an' now dey's only SIX,
SIX li'l gator, what are dey gonna do?
Thibodeaux wants one t' make gumbo stew,
Inna da bayou, dey all take a dive,
Nope--Thibodeaux gits one, dey's only FIVE,
FIVE li'l 'gator, dey hidin' in da swomp,
Dey's gittin' tire of gittin' demselves WHOMP,
Dey beginnin' t' t'ink it's 'gator war,
Yep...one gits it...an' now dey's only FO',
FO' li'l gators...dey started out wit' ten,
Dis da biggest mess since I don' know when,
A hurrecan's comin'--a big one, see,
One gits blowed away...now dey's only T'REE,
T'REE li'l gators, dey's in a pickle!
So dey goes t' da sto', spen' dey nickle,
One drink too much...dat 'gator did da Dew,
She coul'n't handle it...now dey's jes' TWO,
TWO li'l 'gator, da las' ones of da batch,
Dey gone try anyt'ing, 'void bein' catch,
Nope--Hebert an' Thibodeaux, havin' fun,
Snagged 'em anudder 'gator--dey's jes' ONE,
ONE li'l gator...Maman's fit t' be tied,
Big ole croc tears are runnin' down her hide,
"Papa," she call, "Let's go inna dat den,
Make somemo' shildren, make anudder TEN!"

Karla! Man, I'm such a dork! Sorry it took me so long to find this little gem of a piece...I don't hang around the Den as often as I should. I'd love to illustrate it...maybe I'll scan a few sketches and send them out to ya to see what you think. It's sweet of you to think of me down here in the midst of gator country, though not the Bayou I'm afraid. Thanks a bunch! Obviously, this deserves a place of respect in my little online library!
