Do NOT do this. I nearly got into big
trouble with this one. (An Air Force
tale.)

1984
carswell air force base
fort worth, texas
have been having trouble with my eyes
flashes flares of white light
lightning bolts scribbling across my vision
annoying as all get out
i'm severely nearsighted--blind as a bat
wear thick, thick lenses so i can see
have since second grade
flashes flares in your visual field
can signal several problems like a ~detatched retina~
to which i'm susceptible ANYWAY because of my
extreme nearsightedness (blind as a bat)
one day i was really having a problem with the
flashes flares of white light
called the doc at the base hospital--"come in NOW"
they tell you "now," you go
NOW
i go to the doc--he does an exam, sends me to the
specialist who dilates my pupils BOOIIINNG
they get HUGE *i can't see a flippin thing*
what little i could see he took away--nearly blinded
especially when he shines the brightest of bright
lights into my widened, open eyes *now i'm really blind*
he can't find nothing wrong, asks me if i have migraines
yes
that is my warning, my aura--flashes flares of light
whenever i see those, a migraine's on the way *terrific
and here i think something is REALLY wrong*
i'm free to go, but i'm to avoid any bright light
wear sunglasses, because the sun is shining brightly outside
walking back to my barracks--have the rest of the day off
pass through the BX parking lot--lovely spring day
warm temperatures, feel the warmth of the sun on my face
*can't really see anything*
but i'm enjoying the day until
AIRMAN
sir
WHATSA MATTA WITH YOU DON'T YA SEE MY RANK
excuse me sir
DO YOU SEEEEEEEEEE MY RANK
airman vidra reports no sir
I AM A COLONEL USAF WHY DIDN'T YOU SALUTE ME
*'cause you're an ass
*
but i salute the ass--COLONEL--don't wanna git in trouble
sir airman vidra reports AS ordered no sir, i did not see your rank
i didn't see YOU how was i supposed to see your rank SIR
WHATTAYA MEAN YOU DIDN'T SEE MY RANK THERE IS
AN EAGLE SITTIN RIGHT THERE ON MY SHOULDERS
*yeah and i hope they take a dump on yas*
sir i don't see no eagles--just got back from the eye doc's
he just dilated my pupils--can't see a freakin thing SIR
GEEZ LOUISE YOU MEAN THEY'RE LETTIN IN BLIND
PEOPLE INTO MY AIR FORCE
*yeah just like they let you in ya great big jerk*
yessir

KArla,. I know what your saying here and I really loved it, I got such a laugh and such a memory. When I was in the navy at a quite young age, both physically and mentally, I saluted an Admiral going past our barracks that I was cleaning that day. He didnt return the salute so I gave him the finger, little did I know that his aide, a certain full commander was following him only a short few steps around the building, he caught me do so and i stood at attention for the rest of the day saluting. Sure as hell taught me how to salute!!Suffice it to say I was not at that base for very long, LOL! Thanks for a great memory and laugh friend Karla...best to sister, Peace, ED & Rufuz (w00f)

have been there. can relate. They are sticklers about saluting in the Army too. I give this and them the Spaceballs salute with my highest compliments. Thank goodness we're out of the military, Kindra.
Salutes ... whoops we were both peons weren't we?
