Remember those with no homes...
Remember those with no food...
Remember those with no health...
Remember those with no families...
We, indeed, are blessed beyond measure.
I can't feel the magic any more Where is a miracle, I need one Christmas isn't Christmas if you're poor Where is the joy, the wonder, the fun
Christmas is just another sad day Like the others before and after The magic I knew has gone away And so has, I'm afraid, the laughter
I had a good job, one that paid well I had it all--home, car, food to eat That was then--the economy fell Now I'm a homeless bum on the street
I've looked for work--no one's hiring I'm not begging for booze, don't use drugs I'm not crazy--no loose wiring Yet I am treated like I'm a thug
I want to sleep in a warm, safe place I want food to eat, I want warm clothes What I would give to have my own space But I'm an object to scorn, to loathe
People look at me with pure disdain They quickly run when I approach them Merry Christmas doesn't mean the same When folks forget that I am human
Where are you, Christmas Why can't I find you Why have you gone away Where is the laughter You used to bring me Why can't I hear the music play...
Where are you, Christmas Why can't you find me It's like you've disappeared Where are you hiding Where can I find you Please bring me hope and joy this year
Extremely well written, Karla, with an equally critical message. Most don't know that Christmas is a pagan festival, so it is no wonder it succumbed to greed and selfishness. The shame is that so few people even think of our poor and hungry and homeless, except once a year. They are there 24/365 and have the same needs each of those painful days they live. As Jesus said, "The poor always will be with you." ~~Bonnie Q
Karla,
Thanks for the tears, again...I was at where that person is on the street at one time, now I am living inside, am relatively warm, relatively well fed & have Rufuz to keep me company, a job and Rene to marry eventually, but I can remember how it was, for those short 6 months. People think youre below human when living on the street, they won't help at all, they think, if they ignore you, you will go away and their lives will go on with no problems! But what they don't realize is the life of the guy on the street, could be their lives, with as little as losing their job, they may not be able to pay the rent, out on the street in a heartbeat!
Sorry to all for ranting here, but I feel this poem more so than I have felt any I have past written & I didnt write this one, a very talented young lady from Texas wrote a very heartfelt, tear jerker of a poem here...I hope all on AuthorsDen realize how close they are or can be to the streets? It is NOT a pretty place to be!
Thank you Karla, for this wonderful poem, Peace, Ed & Rufuz

Karla, this wrenches my heart. How easily we could find ourselves in this same position. There's much pain in this world. Sometimes, all we can give is a prayer. I must say this is an excellent write that makes us all stop and think.
Love, Patty
And many of the homeless are Viet Nam and Irag War I vets who cannot find work or hold a job. I wish we could remember our troops after they fight. Thanks, Karla.
