Sunrise

There is magic in a morning
When the clouds are rimmed with gold,
And a brand new day is dawning
On a world that's crisp and cold.

In the east, the dark sky lightens
With the first approach of dawn,
And the faded colour brightens
As the sky lights up the morn.

Then we see above the ocean
Just a hint of golden sun
That will reinforce the notion
That a new day has begun.

Then the clouds turn pink and yellow
As the sun climbs in the sky,
And the darkness starts to mellow
As he bids the night goodbye.

Then the stars fade in the distance,
Far above the daylight's hue,
For they cannot keep subsistence
In a sky of azure blue.

As I travel near and yonder
And I see each morning's birth,
I cannot help but ponder
On the beauty of the earth.
