The Spirit never sleeps... just bides it's time until release, which, coming at this backwards from your next Arrival poem, goes to show. These two poems self-reflect, it seems to me, and bear each other up and out. The one stems from the other. I like to think of the pupa image... within the seeming cocoon is not one physiological being "magically" assuming a totally different structure... but instead a liquid mass, assuming a total meltdown status before metamorphosing. It's the old deconstruct to reconstruct thing. A good place. For some reason, perhaps the diction, reminds me of a couple of poems from MIM... Blood Of My Muse and Blood Dreams, I think. I've slept many a night with my head "ON" and my eyes open and yet...still have to reach over when the alarm goes off as though I'm awakening from a deep sleep.

The dream world is exciting as we learn that we are being taught by it........the problem being that as we awaken in our bodies.......memories fade.......and we know we knew something but what was it?

This character though seemingly on the dark side...also comes off as being slightly vunerable as he lurks in the shadows...it seems more for protection of the world's evils.

Enterprise's Spock could be the one explicating this one, he has a few of those on his planet, here? God forbid, NO!!!!!!!!!!!
The words, the metaphores, the twisting of our thoughts this poem does are the work of a poet in a kaleidoscopic world of dreams.
