The driveway gone, the hummer too,
No money in the bank,
The cell phone gone,
The TV “Plasma”
But why should that bother you?
Perusing the mind, the hidden Crevasses,
The rushing rivers of energy,
The steeply stacked and jarred memories,
One emotional thought or two,
And all the flow turns to molasses,
The network modulates between gelling
And freezing the glycol of fear being the agent,
The body falls limp or stiffens,
The lip pouts, chin turns square,
Preceded by anxious yelling,
I say, you alright old chap,
Did my news get you upset?
Didn’t mean to scare you,
Relax it sounds worse than it is,
Don’t get yourself into a flap,
But you said, nothing left, not a penny,
We’re bankrupt, broke, gone under,
How can you be so calm, so composed?
Or you are telling me a pile of crap?
Ah it’s not so bad the government will look after us,
Are you kiddin they can’t look after themselves,
It’s because of them we’re in this mess,
Pension, what pension, you’re nuts,
We don’t even have money for a bus,
My blood pressure, I’m going to have a stroke!
First the house and now the car,
Your job, and soon now mine,
I need some booze, where is the wine?
Beer, you’re kidding, now I know we’re broke.
Great poem. But, hey they did give us that check a while go, nice of them. I finally got to fill my gas tank and buy groceries! And as for our recent mess, it makes me so mad, I take the fifth.

And they sure have been doing one Hell of a job.
