Coonskin Davy: Well I finally got my money back after
my sidekick (my mother) did a little negotiating
with his sidekick (his mother)
Bravo I say (a wee bit sheepishly)
So I was walking along the sidewalk day dreaming
and who should come along but ole Tubby hisself
Little Mike: Well here he is, the tattle tail.
Now hold on, says Coonskin
Let's settle this on the river
We'll each build a raft
and see who stays afloat.
Little (River Rat) Mike: Let's go!
So the two of them begun building rafts
out of fallen logs
cottonwood or the like
held together with baling twine
Coonskin Davy: I'm gonna sink his butt!
he tells his buddies
Jimmy, Stevie, and Chuck
Ready to bail, Tubby?
They set out
launching their rafts in a flat
where it wasn't too swift
heading for some rapids
They had big poles
to steer and joust
Suddenly up ahead
they see a dam (water fall?)
Little Mike: Holy Sh*t!
as he jumps in swimming to shore
leaving his raft to crash
Coonskin Davy: We whipped em boys
trying to steer their boat to shore
suddenly too close for comfort
(or a terrific crash)
They jumped in the river
swam to shore
and watched the rafts
breakup over the dam
Little Mike: My raft stayed together better
so I won!
Coonskin Davy: You didn't win
you jumped to save your skin!
So much for the two river rats
(to be continued)
