With Hollerween nie on to bein here,
I recoleck Hollerweens in Coonass Holler, with kin I hold dear.
In Coonass Holler at Hollerween,
I spent them with my Cuzes Tater and String Bean.
Granny Gump could spin a mighty fine ghost yarn,
Kept us younguns wide-eyed and full of alarm.
She told a plum scary one, bout Wild Jack,
Ifen Ya wandered in hisin neck of the woods, Ya aint a cummin back.
She'd tell of Wild Jack, On Hollerween Nights by the fire,
The more she sed, our hare stood higher.
String Bean pondered on it and reckoned
we'ens would go a huntin Jack,
We made up this here hunt, behind Granny's back.
We waited until Granny commensed a snorin, to gits our plan into play,
Then likes three quiet mouses, we gest stole away.
With gest the moon fur lite, it be mostly dark as pitch,
We let String Bean lead and he led us into a ditch!
That made me and Tater sore, when we scrambled out, we gave him a poke,
We sed that he was a big, ole dummy and that got hisin goat!
Then all of a sudden, a big, ole hairy thang jumped up outta the tall weeds,
It scared the peedoodles outta us and in our drawers we done peed!
Ole Wild Jack commensed a howlin at the moon,
We'ens knowed that tweren't no good sign, he'd be a eatin us soon!
We'ens commensed a yellin, scared plum stiff,
String Bean done messed hisin drawers, twas a powerful stank, when I gots a whiff!
Wild Jack yelled," What is ya younguns a doin in my woods?"
Then he commensed a growlin, we'ens took that fur a sign of no good.
That be it! We'ens commensed to cut a trail!
We'ens was runnin like the devil was on our tails.
We done took a wrong turn, ended up in the graveyard, runnin blind,
Fallin over tombstones, hopin the dead folks would pay no mind.
Then a ghostly voice sed," What is ya younguns a doin here?"
We'ens was a hopin our feets wouldn't fails us as we got it in high gear!
We finally made it back to Granny's shack,
She greeted usuns at the door, sed " Did YA'LL have a nice visit with Jack"
" He sed for YA'LL not to be strangers and to hurry on back!"
