They call her the crying soul
ever reaching for the depths of hell
the tentacles of her heart bound to the floor
Amaranth, and they call her pain
in the heat of summer when
love lies bleeding on her supper plate
she consumes herself
as if life held no substance
as if he were the hollow one
Amaranth, and they all know her by name.

did you ever think you could change him
force the sun to shift to blackest night
did you ever think you could make the twilight eternal
and thus destroy those bleeding red limbs

they call her the bearer of things better left dead
sweet, unsuspecting Amaranth
in the bloom of time she grows unendingly
reminding the poor fools that love shall pass
and always on it's heels... pain
Amaranth, and my heart pulses a shattered beat
holding her in my arms, she cries red tears
and pushes me toward a red death
I call her the shelter to my regrets
for love lies bleeding on her chest.
