The following is a documentation of random writings and stanzas that were never put to use. They are in no particular order and have no particular relation to each other.

they all
let you choke
one by one
shared strangulation

I don't know why I'm sometimes so afraid
to reach down into the tender part of me
that pulsing blue entity that always aches
the sadness is such a threat to this life

Here I remain. Stuck somewhere between
the violent collision of pain and rage.
There is always this draining chorus of misery;
a song that sucks the very life from me.
When do these hazy days end?
Will they come crashing upon me
like the tides of Atlantis to crush me
in a sudden sweeping away of all that you left behind?

broken wings
never learn to fly again
they just beat off rythm
and struggle to keep their head off the ground
broken wings
never really mend
they just yearn for flight
and dream of days when they soared high

broken dreams.

I didn't know how dead you were
you know that I adore you
but baby. couldn't you have at least
kept your eyes open one more day?

If only I could say I were born somewhere poetic.
Like maybe Kingston-Upon-Thames.
Then perhaps you could have loved me.
But no, I'm just a simple white girl.
Born on a dirt road in North Carolina.
And you found this little country girl
far too simplistic and unglittering.

This is goodbye
I leave here today
I walk out of this door
And at my back the world rearranges itself
This is the end
I'm not the same after today
Split in two and a lot harder inside
I hope this is what you want
I just hope that this makes you happy
Because this is goodbye.

A dozen white roses
there they hang
like so many sacrifices
strung up by their delicate throats
drained of the emotion with which they were given
and now dry
no wonder they have lost their meaning to me

I mean life
April
New birth
New beginnings
Was mother hoping I'd save her?
Start her over like one of my wind-up toys?
I mean life
and yet I understand it not.

Good snippets. The last one, "I mean life..." I'd LOVE to get rid of the last line and see it continue.

"We live in a black and white world?" Never! When you add color and codify, you will catch the Moon with you ideas. Bill

Can We Come In and Laugh, Too? by MORGAN ST. JAMES

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson

For a time, I perched myself on a flat rock, comparing my life with the Guyandotte River. Just as its tributaries replenish it daily, changing it in some small—sometimes great—degree, so have the day-to-day occurrences of life changed me. Like the ri
