Other governments protect their economies. But as Americans, we must be a stupid lot for not protecting ourselves. We have no one to blame for this economic crisis but ourselves and our very neighbors.
SHAME ON US FOR BEING SO FOOLISH !
Now we are paying the price.
My little boy asked me what's wrong,
Why we don't do what we used to do?
I said, "Jon, money's a little short,
And people don't care like they use to.
"Our economy's been destroyed,
And people can't figure out how;
But son, the answer's so simple,
Since you insist, I'll tell you now.
"We no longer care what we buy,
Our patriotism has died;
Take a look on most any street,
Look at the cars that people drive.
"Veterans driving foreign makes,
Then the money goes overseas;
Shame on us for our callous ways,
We are this country's worst disease."
THINK, before you buy ANYTHING!
That's not made in the U.S.A.
Don't complain if you're out of work,
If we bought our own, we'd be okay.
We've killed our own economy,
A short time ago it wasn't lame;
An old saying goes, "The truth hurts,"
If you buy foreign then you're to blame.
Point our fingers back at ourselves,
Just look in your mirrors my friends;
Don't you dare blame anyone else,
Since our good times came to an end.
"Ask not what your country can do for you,
Ask what you can do for your country" now;
Fixing this mess is so very easy,
True patriots know exactly how.
Real Americans buy American, Anything else is a lame excuse;
Place all the blame where ever you'd like,
The truth of the matter? It's self abuse!
No, Toyota doesn't belong,
Anywhere in a NASCAR race;
Joe Gibbs and Waltrip, shame on you,
To real Americans, you're a disgrace.
Good write.... Americans should buy , American made!. Our politicans and and product makers should have kept it all here at home, not send our things to foreign countries to make!Hopefully we can fix part of the problem by discontinuing the making of products by foreign countries. It has to start here tho , in order for that to work!.....M

An interesting take, which certainly deserves consideration. Personally, I think that years of unaccountable government spending by both major parties has contributed more to our economic problems than has consumer trends. Consumers generally buy for value. American companies who produce products with apparent value have no problem selling to the American public. However, the problem transcends the confines of basic economics. I admire your mix of creativity with social awareness.
Another thing we've done, Paul, is decided we won't work anywhere for less than $20.00 or $25.00 an hour. We won't work somewhere that's "demeaning." We won't work out in the heat of the day. We won't work at a job that's hard. We want to skate through life, expecting our government to take care of us - no wonder the influx of illegals coming in, taking over our country. We shot our own selves in the foot. No one to blame but ourselves, ya know? Thought provoking, excellent write, Paul, thank you.
