An old Indian legends tell of
A beast that hunts near a river
Said to feed on the flesh of man
Just writing this makes me shiver

In south central Mississippi
Near a little known water way
An awful beast lurks in the trees
Hunting at night, sleeping by day

After the sun has settled down
The dark of night becomes its friend
One has no choice in the matter
It decides who will die and when

If you happen by a lost river
That's not shown on a map at all
Be sure to move on before it's dark
Or you may hear its dinner call

I'm told that its grip is like a vise
Once it has you there's just no way
That you can escape from the thing
You will be its dinner today

It will strip all your flesh away
To get at your muscles and meat
You might not even be dead yet
As it rips your toes from your feet

It's said to eat man piece by piece
Tearing each limb off one at a time
Been told it saves the eyes for desert
Both men and women alike are fine
