CRANKY POET

by Cynthia B. Baello
July 10, 2008

Maybe it is the weather
That makes you grow crankier
Or better yet the hormone
That lets you give an acid tone.

I do not care if you review,
Please be kind in all you do.
Today maybe your very last,
For life is over, oh so fast.

We all have joy to try and write,
And all you here we do invite.
No one's perfect so be true -
If you're not happy, say "Adieu!"

Kindness is the best to give
Adds sunshine to this life we live.
We may not have a lot of money,
That's better than to be so cranky.

You'll end up with a lot of lines,
And with your words, please be refined.
For it reflects the heart inside,
Those sour grapes are hard to hide.

"The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him..."

MATTHEW 12:35a

Good points made here with humor. I never write when I'm cranky but I don't get cranky unless I quit smoking. I enjoyed reading this one.

Some people insist on sharing their ignorance. A great write and I hope it will shine a light into some lonely poets. Thank you for sharing. Love and Warmth to you.

love this verse Cynthia but I'm honest with my feelings, I'm good and bad, I write good and bad, but I do not like bigots, racially, poetically or otherwise :-)

Acidic and razor sharp wit my friend.......I smile as I read this with you. I have had a few "critics" over the years.......It's the endearing friends like you I have made along the way from my poetry that keeps me writing.....I send you much peace and love dear Cynthia....

Cynthia,
I'm glad you wrote the preface-----you are a great writer. Do not be disturbed by "one person's opinion". There are thousands of us who LOVE reading what you write!
God Bless you today

A touching write that makes one stop and examine their own self and attitude...I like what my grandmother always said..."If you can't say something positive, then don't say anything at all." It's hard sometimes but as I've aged, I've learned much about feelings through my own hurt and observing others...I think your poetry is wonderful. Each poet writes from their heart, their own unique feelings, dreams, and desires....how can another poet not encourage this...enjoyed well done my friend!
Blessings,
JOyce B.

I confess that I have been cranky, but I can never be for long. I like the way you took a difficult topic and by your gentle words made me willig to listen till the end. Enjoyed your creative wordplay with "acid tone" and the last line about the sour grapes.

Great write Cynthia, In Christ Jesus, zach

If only people would be as humble and grateful for the things that they have.I've come across people in my life including some family members who would get cranky about the most littliest things that I shouldn't even be an issue. They make the littliest things into the biggest of deals.I don't let their negativity or their crankness wear off on me because I know better and plus that is not the type of person that I am or want to be.In your 4th stanza, people should really take what you express into consideration and use it in their daily lives.People may not be rich in terms of having money, but they are rich in terms of being alive and living. That is the most important thing.I enjoy reading this poem.take care of yourself
