The slaughter of helpless seals and the shooting of wolves and bears from a helicopter horrified me, but the lack of a valid reason for it angers me. The sight of a baby seal trying to run away from a man after its mother was killed made me cry, but seeing it was also bashed in the head until it died, that really shocked me!
As their mothers lie there dead
Baby wolves howl their grief
Pristine snow is blotted red
Lives from bullets were cut brief.
Seals lie dead with no defense-
Helpless creatures being killed,
This mass slaughter makes no sense,
Angers one, no point fulfilled.
Why kill the seals, wolves, and bears?
If It is not for food
What's the rationale there?
From all angles that's not good!
After their annihilation-
A stupid wildlife management!
Other species for extinction?
Will that make you President?
Animals kill only for food,
Or for their lives as a defense.
Man displays his brain is crude,
As he kills for political pretense.
We are worse than those animals
For we can think but we do not,
We ruin this world, make it dismal,
Our savage brains are just blood clots.

I read the intro and the first couple of lines of this powerful and provocative piece and had to stop as it is just too horrifying for me to read. I am glad I did this much and I laud you for your insight and courage to bring these atrocities to light. People need to know what is going on here so it can be halted. Good for you for sharing. I just feel too strongly about it makes me quake on the inside. Bless you, J'nia
Maybe our country will get a lesson from Mother Nature like the Chinese did. They hunted hundred or thousands of birds because they said the were eating the grain, then, no birds...millions and millions of insects invasion all over China being worse than locust.
When unbalance is provoked a hight price must be paid. Saddly, the one doing the unbalance will not pay, we are.
They don't kill them for food but killed them for the fur and this is greed, and I don't agree to anyone wearing furs. My mom left me some furs coats I had donated that to charity. I won't even wear one myself. That is like wearing a corpse and walking around with it with the words "Murderer" written on my forehead.
I wish people were less greedy. I WISH ALL THE STUPID WOMEN STUPID WOMEN WOULD NOT WEAR ANY FURS!!!! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY STUPID WOMEN?????

The Why boils down to what it usually does - human greed, and making money.
There is a growing movement to wipe out all of Earth's predators, like the wolf and the bear. Why? Because they kill and eat animals like elk, which aren't faring too well today either. Trophy Hunters want to shoot and kill that elk; why should they share it with a wolf?
Earth's fish resources are also rapidly diminishing today - and some now also want to wipe out creatures like sea lions and dolphins. Why? Because they eat fish, too. Why should we share what remains, with them?
As for the slaughter of thousands and thousands of baby seals every year, they are killed for their fur, because many people still like to wear expensive fur coats. This slaughter won't end until people refuse to buy and wear fur, or until all the seals are gone.
