..."I always feel like somebody's watching me" Michael Jackson, love that song, love Michael--as an artist though, lol.

Awesome Photo by Nightline on Deviantart.com

Poem Artwork

Flash-flash
                ........camera
splash-splash
........crept the sea up her manicured toes
she melted hearts
..............doing what she always loved to do
She was everyone's dream--men and women--as she
played dress-up, wore make-up
 *Click, Click*
"Over here, give us that smile"
 *Click, Click*
   Pictures,
too many of them, they said, would steal your soul
but she loved the camera and the camera loved her
he even loved her in the nude

so she lounged and smiled and teased and dazzled
at every corner of her newly purchased beach mansion
she was beautiful, elegant, fulfilled
there was no match for her, no one like her
and even as she posed by the old dirt road
her street's name peeking from behind
could never outshine her--Belle

And all those pictures, all those incredible photos
now online, they all fit together nicely
like a puzzle, every piece like a map
a road, a perfect gift for his disturbed mind
And she will never know
it could be anyday now
like a thief in the night
he, the watcher
he would plan it so well
that even the screams of the ocean
would not be able to save her!

A surprise from what I'm used to! But very entertaining and so true on the mark. Those in the spotlight do indeed lose freedom and possibly more. Well Done! Deborah

Goodness....I bet she may regret the trust she felt she had, or privacy she never really had.....Great Poetic Piece Bernice!

Bernice, this is fantastic...one of your best. What a price to pay!

there is a flip side to everything Bernice, fame, beauty, even showing love, you expressed this very well poetically. There's a difference in eyes and hands though, eyes only watch, hands can touch. Of course eyes can lead to hands. There's also a difference in fear and paranoia, too much fear can freeze, too much paranoia can mess up the mind, just enough is all a person needs, can't blame you much for traveling this direction though, minus me from your formula I'm about 800 miles from you my dear. I don't fly and gas cost too much to be jiving around tehhehehe, just kidding, :-)

Fame!... it hardly ever creates in you a better or a safer person, does it? Brings to mind also, the song "Every Breath You TAke... every smile you fake, every breath you take, I'll be watching you..." --Charlie

I love the tension in this and the 'Marilyn Monroe/Paris Hilton' moments, but there's a frightening side, too, and the final lines, brilliantly evocative, send a chill.

I looked behind me. Glad I found the wall as I thought I would. The watcher sent chills up my spine as I read this horror poem of suspense, tension and fear. Excellent. Liz

This is a thriller. Bernice, you are so talented. You described this scene so well, that it is so easy to imagine this bombshell who was being stalked. Your writing skills never cease to amaze me. Very good writing. Two thumbs up !!!

Bernice, I believe some of these people want fame until they get it and then it drives them crazy. You've described it well!

wow! amazin write Bernice
Sad how so many people search so hard to be recognized and honored, yet don't really understand what they are getting themselves into.
And I suspect that many of them do so because they don't have the love at home.

Bernice, you are indeed a poet. And this poem, so skillfully
crafted, depicts (it seems to me) the high cost of celebrity.

The sad truth of the stardom is that after you struggle to reach the top and have people adore you, more often than not it is not what you really wanted but by then your life is public domain. Great capture of this subject Bernice.

YIKES! What a vision you were given here. Sounds like some of the stories emerging of late. For some reason brought to mind the story of Shania Twains predicament. Good colors and shadings in this Bernice, good imagery.
