Cleaning out my attic of relics
wanted no more, I looked down
at my little granddaughter
Playing on the floor
I asked her if she could help
Grandma put this stuff away, she
said no problem, I ain’t got
nuttin’ to do anyway.
The first thing I gave her was
a stack of my old 45s. She
Gave them a strange look, as
If they were alive!
Gramma, what are these round
things you just give to me? I
Climbed down from attic stairs,
Decided to give her a lesson in
“ancient history”
I told her there was music in the
Records, when she suddenly
stopped me cold. Grandma, what is
a record? I looked at my little
darling and thought, boy am I
getting old!
I just happened to have my record player
by my side. I plugged the old thing in, and
And put on a 45. Her eyes grew wide with wonder
there really was music on this thing!
When it was finished she was disappointed,
and said, is that all its got? Grandma, if
That’s all the music it played,
Why didn’t you just use your ipod!

Lovely use of images, a clash of yesterday and the present. Another excellent story-poem. You have a gift Mary.
This is wonderful. I still have a few 45s and lots of 33s. Hubbie has been given the task to put them all on CD - not nearly so romantic. Be well, Liz
