some people shouldn't belong behind the wheel, not just a car, any wheel.

Riding on wheels I remember well, was first my little trike.

Found out very fast, wheels were not for me.

For after falling and skinning my knees, it just wasn’t very nice.

But I was a babe, and got over such childish things, I was a

Big girl now!  A little bike with training wheels; ready to

Take them off.  Dad walked me than let go; but I'll tell you now, that pavement wasn't soft!

Finally learned to ride the bike, had no trouble all

Only fell when I went uphill  When you’re having fun,

what are a few little spills?

As I grew older, I mostly walked, but my friend said

She had a new 10-speed bike.  Try it, it’ll be fun.

I said, it’s been a long time.  She gave me the line about

“riding a bike is something you never forget.”  Well, after

hitting the car and smashing her bike, I’m sorry I didn’t

remember, but I’m not an elephant!

I sprained my ankle, and went to the store, used one of

Those fancy power chairs.  Cool, in my wheels, I

Made it go up and down.  Only one problem, I got

Stuck in an aisle and couldn’t turn around.

Next trip, most dangerous of all, I wanted to drive

but friends said I love you

please don’t do this, we want you alive!

I don’t have to say how that went, it just isn’t fair!

Wheels give you freedom, I suppose,

But my life long fight with wheels, my Nikes

May be slow; at least they’ll get me anywhere.

Awww... cute. I remember when I was learning to ride my bike, I bragged to my brother, "I rode around the block, and only fell down three times."

Mary,
I shouldn't be chuckling but I am; how easily we laugh at others' small misfortunes but it's because we understand them well and have known them, too. Great, this.

LOL That's why I use feet (and crutch) power; they work just as well (though on longer trips, I have to rely on a car, others to take me where I need to go!). Quite a story, Mary; well penned!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Can't afford a car, not even a dead one: my feet (and twin crutches) are my mode of transportation 99.9% of the time! LOL

Well you sure took us back in time and let us recall some of our own memories of wheels, then on mine you can throw in a few car crashes, a few times dropping my motercycle and no doubt a new electric wheelchair somewhere down the line lol Great write.
