Busy hands, pull implements through hardened soil,
With intentions to ragweed and dandelion to foil,
Until the landscape is bare with fleshly turned earth,
And the mind is cleansed of thought to gain rebirth.
Silken daydreams watch soft billowy clouds pass,
While lily white pockets reshape into a virginal lass,
As sultry grays dampen the spirit of giant elephants,
And remake the artist’s image surrounded with infants.
Great trumpets litter trailing fanfare in pinks and blues,
Until the surrounding clouds sparkle with golden hues,
And masquerade calmness, no longer viewed as refined,
While building forces, collide to reinvent for colourblind.
Soaring effortlessly across blasted surfaces, smooth as ice,
And gliding swiftly into lands where time is no sacrifice,
Drifting happily upon saline drips of cleansing, cold rains,
I visit countries, warm in nature, but filled with airplanes.
One stop, two stops, or maybe it was three, before I landed,
So, who was counting, surely not I…who, I so demanded,
Would take my fascination and dispose of it so carelessly,
And stir up the wrath of discontentment, rather effortlessly.
Fairies, pixies, gnomes, leprechauns, trolls and Sinter Claus
Cross my path, beckoning that I come calling and applause
To their lands that are different, yet a dream place all the same
Where one can grow, re-creating their soul, igniting hot flame.
Work gloves dragged over chapped, hardworking sore hands,
As flats of annual marigolds, petunias, and other mixed brands
Demand your attention, yanking you away from your dreams
To give them life in a garden filled with wondrous jet streams.
