Good morning all...

A subject close to my heart, as dear season has just ended here in Ontario.

Hugs, Trish.

Poem Artwork

A small fawn scampers through the thicket brush
With its tawny spotted coat gleaming from the rush
As a tall, camouflaged hunter appeared in the clearing
And taking aim, scope aligned, his heartbeat cheering
He fires, and watches as the wee baby falls to a hush.

Damaged, but not dead, the wee thing turns in pain
While the hunter stands to watch, declaring his reign
Yet, as he watches, a great bear comes upon the scene
And without a care, swipes open his throat so clean
To let the blood flow freely to ground, causing a stain.

The tiny fawn struggled to stand, so it could run away
But its life was all, but gone, on this sad and windy day
And the bear who stood close by, covering eyes to cry
As the baby fawn withered, the bear knew it had to die
So, with its mighty claws, it swung, then knelt to pray.

A Bears Prayer:

Only man kills for sport, without hunger pain
And only, man wounds, acting totally inhuman
Yet, in the end, it is not only animals they slain
But their brothers, sisters, others with their name,
Using their powerful weapons…what will remain?

(((trish)))

if hunting for meat, for survival, it's okay. to shoot an animal for its skin or just for fun is just plain mean. thank you for speaking up for our animal friends with this poignant piece--well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, karla. :(

and the bear's prayer is SPOT ON
