This poem was written a few weeks ago as part of a writting assignment for the Whimsy Group.

Form: The Pregunta

The pregunta is written in couplets containing a question and an answer, and can be as long as you like.

Poem Artwork

What’s wrong, butterfly?

Why do you not flutter your wings today?
Because they are motionless held this way.

Why do you not take flight into the sky?
Because if I do, then you will see me fly.

Why do you not spread those beautiful wings?
Because to do so, would tell you many things.

Why do you not visit the flowers and the bees?
Because it would mean flying amongst the trees.

So, why butterfly do you not want to soar high?
Because I’m a caterpillar and too young to try.

NOTE TO READERS: I will be away again for the next few weeks. I am working hard to complete the paintings I will require in italy. While in Europe, anyone interested in seeing what I am up to can follow my journey through my village newspaper - The Whigoah, which has just been converted to an e-zine and comes out every Tuesday, like clockwork. I plan to include tons of news and pictures. LOL

Enjoy, see you when I pop in again. Off to paint.

Neat couplets. Each couplet should stand alone in punctuation too and you have it down perfectly. Love it!

Love,
Bette
