Another Lethal Repetition (Revised)

This is a slight revision of one of my earliest attempts at poetry.

Screams escape from the depths of my murdered innocence.
Terror reigns as I again see shadows of unforgotten faces.
Holding me, they tear away all hope of cherished modesty.
I die again a virgin's death with each new blunt invasion.

Purity struggles for every breath in my otherwise guiltless setting.
I cry, but tears do not wash the toxic stains of primordial aggression.

I awake, another dream, another panic in the night.
My heart cries once more, knowing that tomorrow is another day.
Another lethal repetition, obsessed that they are there.

Based upon my experience with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

In the test of being, what is the cost, anguish stops in mid stream, mid scream, reality keeps mood at bay in places that are only in the eyes of the beholder. Roads break into paths and tranquility as the words flow from the pen. Peace comes slow but it comes...You are a most excellent writer.. Walt

This would make a stone cry, Lori ... but sadly, not even touch the perpetrators, perhaps. This write deals a mortal blow to those who can even touch, smell or sense in any other way the picture that you so graphically paint here... to actually have experienced such anguish is frankly beyond my wildest nightmares. Your sheer brilliance takes me there in this surgical masterpiece. May this written blood-let bring some form of healing and resolution to your heart and mind, and may God's spirit bathe and cleanse your soul. I believe that He can make ALL things new, being a God of creation. Bless you for this brave and full-frontal piece. Kate xx

Heartwrenching, and very very powerful, Lori. And truly hope you've been able to overcome your PTSD. They say writing helps; and it appears your writing about this may have helped you; truly hope so, and please write on.

There are the those who are victims and there are those of us who survive becoming a victim, no doubt, you survived. Now do not victimize yourself with your undeserved guilt for what someone else did. They in fact, will not survive.

This poem is very well written. Stripped to the bare bones and nerves and brain. I know what it's like to wake up every morning and dread the day. There are many things that can cause PTSD.
An extremely enlightening poem, Lori.

Lori, this is an absolutely gut-wrenching stunningly descriptive write! Whenever I read anything that resembles this type of horror, I cannot begin to fathom nor will I ever understand the how’s and why’s of what could possibly possess someone to rob and then savagely ravage a innocent human being in this way. It saddens me terribly. May the gentle winds of the Creator’s grace comfort and keep you and yours safe throughout your travels through time and space. Take care and be well.

You have graphically portrayed the horror that still resides in you and I hope will soon pass. A vivid look into how violence affects women who have been abused or raped.
