And you are so right too Lori. Everytime I write a poem, I edit, re-edit, read and re-read (giggles). Sometimes a typo escapes tho (giggles again), and then when I read the posted poem, I go "oh no! (Giggles some more). Then I correct the mistake. The other day a few words just popped into my head, but that is as far as it got. (Rolling on the floor giggling). Thnx sis for sharing this with us.

oooh. i like this right here. word economy in poetry is like metaphor to short stories, mandatory. meaning is spare, and yet profound. an enjoyable, thoughtful read!

Yes it does seem somtimes that the ability to write, especially poetry does depend on that little muse deciding if he really wants us to or not doesn't it.

this poem exemplifies the difference when a poem disconnects from a reader as opposed it uplifts and inspires ... you did a much better job of expressing that truism then i just did ... excellent!

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who can read a poem over and over and still not grasp what the author is trying to get across. On the other hand, some poems pull me right into them and consume all of my thoughts and emotions. Great write, Lori. Your examples of contrast are on spot.
