I’ve been sitting here steady
Day in and day out

And seen little ones pout
They’ve tugged at my beard
They don’t listen to me

I must take a pee
But I will bear this burden
I will suffer this pain
For the little one’s pleasure
and my pay, I remain
And to all who believe
in this jolly old elf
I’d bid you adieu
with a line off the shelf
But that damn line eludes me
What was it again
It was on the tip of my tongue
On the hair of my chin
Till' that damn hair of the dog
Chased it off again
Ho, ho, … damn, I forgot the rest of it.

It was almost good. No, truth be told, it was its truth that came through. I'm sure most Santas have almost bad traits they try to hide from us. Cute and funny.

LOL!!! It is a job for a very special (or relatively intoxicated) individual, for sure. I could never do the Santa thing because I would probably be giving the kids a lecture about appreciating what they have and also about the true meaning of the holiday. I always thought that those Santa guys were scary, some unknown masked guy hugging me and bouncing me on his knee, not something I was used to doing on a regular basis; not to mention them leaving for a break every few minutes while I was waiting in line so my parents could get the kid with Santa photo for the grandparents. What was with the break?? Santa spends an entire day delivering toys from an airborne sleigh...I never heard a single tale of him stopping to pee. Even as a kid, I didn't understand the manditory break times of the "Union Santas." Lots of humor as well as a strong dose of reality in this entertaining poem.
