Redwoods shadow

what is seen by some as a lesser world

of mist and ferns.

Through pine trees

the Pacific breeze carries

the call of a distant gull.

Answering, intruders worship

Highway 101.

The race continues.

Remarkable: An economy of words gives us a generous sharing of views and feelings.

Speaking of "The race continues," your work always seems to "cut to the chase." And I love it!

The narrow strip of ancient giants belies the cathedral that once was Northern California. I pulled off the road one night near a gurgling stream and awoke to the light filtering through the dust of ages, high above.

...unless you cut over to hwy 1, for a majestic view of redwoods framing the pacific's blue crested with the curls of white, the pace does slow, just not enough. Beautiful write. Warmth and Love to you. Carin'

Ahhh!! How I love PCH, Lori and the redwoods own a piece of my soul. I think if I could choose anywhere in the world to live it might very well be Mendocino, where the redwood trees stretch all the way to the sea. Your words are like paint upon a canvas, so clear and inspiring; you took me on a mini-vacation this morning. As always, I love your writing.

Take care,

Sherry

A most thought provoking piece, Lori. I think I prefer that 'lesser world' to today's rat race.

You paint a picture of longing in passing. I have driven many a highway and often through forests dark and dense and always wonder what is just beyond the curtains of green.
