When history is written, when it's all over
I think history will be kind to the man
that gave the order to take Iraqi soil.
Sure, the man's catching it from all angles--
from those who just plain hate war
to those who think it's all about the oil.
Yes, war is terrible--destroys, mangles,
gives innocents physical and mental scars,
and generally causes pain and exacts toil.
Yet, has anyone forgotten the murdering,
torturing, tyrannical oppression of Iraq?
Or, does anyone really care at all?
Which is worse?--constant oppression, killing
or freedom's liberation riding on war's back--
knowing that either way death calls?
Some say the cause is a waste or life--
as if life wasn't being wasted already,
as if Saddam and his regime were just.
There are so many evil regimes that thrive,
others say, so why battle this one only?
This one is a threat to Middle East peace and trust.
How selfish is the question of, 'Why take on this regime
when there are so many others in the world!'
Are we to stand back and do nothing?
Just because we can't feasibly take every regime
we should not oppose any at all, nor
seek to help others--oppressed and poor?
So what does one do when an agreement is made
and the other party doesn't abide by it?
How long should one wait for compliance?
Is twelve years too long to wait?
Or, should an international body be split
after its authority is challenged since?
Don't victorious military's have the right
to use force if the defeated government
doesn't abide by the agreement of a treaty?
How long is too long to wait, despite
constant defiance and ill intent--
of a corrupt regime from head to toe and a to z?
Yes, innocent people have been injured and killed
and the regime continues to put its military equipment
in positions in and around civilian populations.
Does anyone see how carefully the U.S. has willed
that no innocent life by sadly spent--
how the regime must be held responsible for its actions?
What of all those innocent people killed,
of all the violations of international law--
of using humans as biological and chemical guinea pigs?
What about the UN inspectors being expelled
and paying suicide bombers' families for the cause?
Shouldn't we do something? Stop the political jig?

i think it will be better if freedom reigns in iraq. that man, saddam, has done too much in the way of damage already, and he should be stopped, as should all the madmen called terrorists, people who have absolutely no regard for human life! good write! :) (((HUGS)))
