To the World: A Valentine
The herons perched at the tottery ends of twig-like branches,
Hopping competitively to the edge until the limbs bend,
I love you.
The cold eastern wind that knocks the walker’s breath away
Spearing through woolen gloves, coat, and muffler,
I love you.
Waves that batter the coastline, each an individual whirl
An eccentric will, water and foam and salt,
I love you.
Dogs that chase sticks, balls, tails, one another
Laugh-barking with joy, exploring their doggy worlds
I love you.
Humanity who smiles despite what life has taught
Pushing for change, seeking new hope, refusing failure,
I love you.

Be always safe,
Karen
God bless you. Kathy
