I Must Have Lied
At various stages of our life we question what we’ve done.
Did we make progress, did we reach our goals, and did we have fun?
But on no occasion in the past did I have the time as I do at present.
My children’s all grown, I’m alone a lot and my mates off shooting pheasant.
So I have all the time I need to ponder what in life I’ve done.
I raised incredible children, had a successful career, and yes, I had fun.
But there are still things I’d like to do before my time runs out.
I’d like to try different things, isn’t that what life’s about?
For I never saw Elvis in person, which has always been a regret.
I don’t want another, if I do nothing, then that’s what I’ll get.
I’d like to try sky diving by jumping from a plane to the ground.
I like to skin dive and watch the exotic fish swim all around.
I’d like to go back to school and learn so much more.
I’d like to climb mountains and watch the Eagles soar.
There are so many things in life that I haven’t even tried.
So when I said I had lots of fun, I must have lied.
No!
I brought three successful children in this world, they brought tremendous bliss,
So there’s nothing in this world I regret and there’s nothing I have missed.

I know the feeling of having the children all grown up with families and careers of their own and you are left wondering if there is something missing. I think if we stop dreaming and setting goals for ourself we stop living. Enjoyed your poem, sweet lady.

I like this poem and the style, the rhyme ....and the message. You being a mother (like me) had the most challenging and demanding career in life and it is the best achievement ever to raise children into responsible, productive, and caring adults, so give yourself a
