From where I stand an 89 could bring you down
or a 57 could take you back.

From Ligoniel into town where Belfast is the buzz
and these days there is no lack of craic

Still I remember 89 when an 89 was often caught
And the roads where blocked.

Stopped and burnt at the Barricades
by those with their hands on a gun and their triggers uncocked.

Up and down the Horseshoe bend you couldn't get a
Belfast red double-decker bus to run.

The only thing then that ran on the Crumlin road was the
Echo of a sub machine gun.

Black taxis flew past all over Belfast from the Horseshoe bend
to each and every hotspot.

That's how it was when no one cared
but now buses have returned to the place that peace forgot.
