I really hope I don't offend anyone with this poem...I can't help explore the forbidden...it's in my nature
Their hands touched
And the electricity was there
Like a physical shock
From which they both recoiled
Her lips parted
Part smile part breathless
Concentrate, she thought,
Make yourself breath
Pretend this is normal
While he looked away
Anywhere but in her eyes
She fluttered and blustered
Finally escaping with a weak excuse
From the tension between them
She wanted this man badly
And she sensed he felt the same
But their love was forbidden
This priest and the lovely lady
God forbid the union
Of this they had no doubt
But who stops the passion
From lying beneath the surface
Who stops the dreams
From lurking in their minds
Is it really a sin to feel this way
Even though they both fight it
Why does God let this happen
This tragic love, forbidden
I think it is a sin to "force" celibacy. Just my opinion but I think those are man-made rules. Anyway, this is meaningful because it is factual. Love and peace. Regis

It is always that which we can't have that is what we simply must.......I know these feelings too...*sigh*

wonderful, moving work......ty, Dani

A very deeply emotional piece of writing.
You did not offend, by asking why loving a priest is
forbidden. The bible says nothing, anywhere, about
priests having to be celibate. It is a natural thing
for them to want to love someone, just as love itself
is a natural part of the scheme.
I totally agree with LaBelle on this one...but agree
with Robert Jude, too. The "married status" spoils it.

It is hard for us to understand the many tests that we are put through. This is a great explortation of this. Great write.
i really like how you explore this concept ... you do it so well ... but i must add by making the woman married may distract from the total impact of the statement ... i may be wrong but having a priest love a woman is a excellent concept but may having her married complicates the effect of the poem ... still, an excellent poem ...
I love the write. The God question is always an interesting one. I tend to think that he does not cause nor stop such things. We allow them to happen and He seems to stay out of the way of our free will. Oh well, I'm not a theologian... lol.
