This Crazy World

I wish there was something someone could tell me
That would make sense of this crazy world
It used to be so simple
Barbie dolls and weeping willows
A bank of the little stream that ran thru grandma’s yard
I used to think I would always know
Without a doubt what my life would bring
I thought I would be loved
And love someone else
That happiness would be my due
That was when I was very young I guess
Life has a way of smartening us up
Quicker than seems fair
We learn about this crazy world
And the things we do to one another
We learn that there is no peace
Only temporary reprieve
There is no calm
Except before the storm
We learn that love means loss
And we learn to live with it
I haven’t been totally happy
Since that little stream at grandma’s house
Too many things get in the way
And no one seems to be able to tell me anything
That will make sense of this crazy world

I'm about to write a poem on this very subject and I'm glad I found this one to head me in the right direction. While this may not help anyone make sense of this crazy world, it's something I think of often. "When you think your life is troubled, look around, many suffer worst fates." There is not a doubt in my mind that happiness comes from within.

Making sense is like the lament "It's not fair" but I remember asking why?, "that makes no sense!" "Its not fair!" and I have no answers, only more questions. Like you I wonder?? Great poetry everone can relate too.

Sue, this is such a true poem, seems it came straight from your heart, and it captures something with which we all can identify. I don't presume to have answers and clearly have much the same experience as do you, but I look for willows by the stream and that seems to help. Wonderful write. Thank you. Dawn

Sue, although I tend to agree with Ted, one must also understand that in order to get the best out of life, “one must hope for the best, but always be prepared for the worse!” Whenever you need to find solace from “this crazy world,” remember to just drift back in time to grandma’s house down by the stream, and let your mind wander there. An excellent write. Thanks for sharing it. Take good care and be well.

I think the only thing one can do, is try their best at finding happiness and live with the results.
The world is too crazy to understand it.

Best wishes

These are very good, heart wrenching thoughts. The older I get, the more I see that we do live in a fallen world. I've never expected much of this world. I hold onto the hope of Heaven. Also, Wellbutrin and Lexapro help take the edge off.

i think the only sense we can make of this crazy world is to transcend its meaningless environ through the power of our hearts and minds ... to make sense of nonsense requires every volt of our being ...

Wonderful rant/prose Sue. I often ask this same question, and there really is no right answer, because the world is always in a flux, and nothing ever seems to get resolved. We go from one crisis into another and never seem to have closure of any.

Good Write Sue! Thank you! The world indeed seem crazy to me sometimes too! I heard a quote once that seems to help me when it does. ( I think it was Abraham Lincoln, but I'm probable mistaken)lol It said, "If you look for the bad in any man, you will find it" I thought that was neat and realized that it applies to anything, poeple, life, the world whatever. I wonder if maybe we grow to focus on the bad things of the world and lose site of the good. I dont know. Anyway, Great write. : )
