See, I used to get high
High
Funny way to describe the lowest period of my life
I had another name for it
Nodding
A friend would call
Whatcha doin?
Noddin’
They sometimes thought I said nuttin’ or nada
And in a way
That was it
Nothing, nada, zilch, zip
I was doing nothing with my life
Spacing
Staring at a spot across the room for hours
Not sure why
Didn’t matter
Nodding
Sometimes I scratched my nose for a change of pace
If the stuff was good
I threw up
Yeah, makes no sense to me either
But there you are
God knows how I quit
No, not a cliché
God knows
God was the reason I quit
He has something else in mind for me
I don’t know what
I just live my life best I can
And wait to find out
It’s got to be something
More than nodding
Yes Sue, there is more than just Nodding. God has created mankind, and His plans for us are not finished yet. We never know exactly what those plans are, so all we can do is live our lives as best as we can, and pray to God, through His Son Jesus, that we are among those who will go to Heaven.
When I started my transsexual transition, again for the umpteenth time, I prayed to God that through His Son Jesus, I would have love, understanding, acceptance and peace of mind, that I was doing the right thing.
My therapist has told me, that God works in myterious ways, His wonders to behold. And, it is God that will show us the path in life that we are to follow.
Yes, Sue, there is more to life than just Nodding (giggles).
This is a very nice poem, and deep in its meaning.
May the Lord be with and at your side always. With much love, peace, & (((HUGS), your dear friend in Wisconsin,

I agree with Eileen too.....
Fantastic work Sue......You do indeed have a big heart....
You have spoken the words for me, or so it felt when I read your words.Although a thousand things have been done, the one I love the most got left behind and I'm beginning to realise at last that "only me"can take the "signals" given seriously when they drop down from ahigh and only me who can "JUST DO IT"
No one else will do it for me.Everyone has got to start somewhere.
I loved your wording, but better still THE WORDING between your lines which I felt was oh so clear.
I loved the message!
You betcha... just broken away from a family's viewing of a Sandra Bullock movie about addiction and rehab - pressed too many buttons for me as I'm only just beginning to be aware of my own "cause and effect" syndrome... wasting away is surely NOT part of anyone's plan for life, even if the alternatives are not immediately forthcoming or particularly scintillating in themselves. Wasting is purely that - and yours is a fruitful life that already sows much that is of beauty and value into the lives of others with your writing. Your friendship, too, must be a wholly wonderful thing and your advice worthy of listening too. You are one of life's commentators, it seems to me, Sue, and as such are prime for being able to come alongside and steer others away from life's rocks which otherwise might seem inevitable. In short, a born lifesaver! Thank you, as always, for your candid honesty which is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Bless you, Kate xx
An excellent, sobering write. :) Keep looking for new adventures, which will provide a natural high. :)

A very intelligent write, Sue. God has a purpose for us all. In time we will know and we are broken for a purpose and trained with our experience for just that purpose.
Well, the last time I got high, was a few months ago, actually Dec 1st as the next day I got the appt for this new jobs interview and since I have had no need to run away to my "high" place...I hope you find peace, Sue, Ed & rufuz

Well you are correct when you said that God had other plans for you. He always does and it is wonderful that you found out just what those plans were. A soulful write here.
