Okay one more down poem and then I'll try to cheer up. Actually I am quite cheerful to be flu free at last, but this poem has to come out...may as well be now

They lied to me
When I was a young thing
Told me it would be easier
As I got older
Nothing is
Not a damn thing hurts less
At this age
Than it did before
Difference is
What you come to expect
At my age
I expect the pain
When I was young and fresh
I thought it was all good
And therein lies the difference

wise words, sue. Don't expect anything and anything good is a bonus. A little grain of salt goes a long way. Looking after number one, too! k

I have been very lucky so far.
All my pain is emotional, but perhaps I make up for that by having so much of it.
Best wishes.

Sue, why do they lie to children? Build false hope. Wouldn't it be fairer to teach toughness? Great poem. Henry

Sue you know that I am usually fairly up beat and positive but tonight as last night I have to agree with you maybe it's something in the air, maybe time of year but i have a pain in my sould that is not physical but still brings a sadness that I cannot explain. You summed it up quite well.

You are right the only thing that I do not have to worry about now is cramps as that was taken care of in 1998. But I found as I got older the pains just changed places. But arthritis can be a bitch can't it?

for sure sis, for sure. Thnx for your well wishing also. Maybe my pain from my younger days, is mostly all healed, and tonight is just the start of a very new life for me. Now I will see what marriage is like as a wife. may the Lord be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & (((HUGS))), Barbie

You speak the truth there for it is not easier as we have been led to believe but our attitudes towards life have come to expect it when it surfaces. Excellent and concise work.

Oh, the flu, remember it too well... glad your feeling better... pain comes in many forms... the physical, I can deal with, the emotional and spiritual is a lot harder and something I never worried about as a kid...

Very sage and beautifully, sanguinely done, Sue. Understanding the weather systems is so much a part of successfully dealing with and riding them and, at our age, perhaps we don't waste so much time and emotional energy vainly attempting to avoid the inevitable! Don't worry, flu does this to people! Hang on in there and continue to be fruitful and productive, turning bad into good! Be well soon! TY Kate xx

Yes, therein does lie the difference, Sue. I hope you start to feel more cheerful. Writing these things out helps sometimes I've found. That said, I truly liked this poem and plan to save it. Great work.

Sue,

Glad you are flu free. :) That's something to smile about!

You're right--the older you get, the more you expect bad things to happen and are able to roll with the flow

Excellent pen

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)
