They say darkness is one of the things
That humans fear the most
It takes away their advantage
Over things that go bump in the night
It brings back the monsters
Of childhood
And hides away
The wisdom of the ages
It makes us realize how small we are
In all its inky hugeness
And before the light of dawn
It reminds us how to pray
